(Des Moines, IA) -- A heat wave is expected to move into Iowa this weekend.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Ashley Bury says hot temperatures and high humidity will arrive on Sunday.
"Our highs each day, all the way through much of the week including the Fourth of July holiday is specifically mid to upper 90's and the heat indices from Sunday will be from 100 to 105 and maybe even higher, with some 110 degree values, " Bury said.
Bury says the dew point will be high, making it feel even hotter. She suggests avoiding strenuous work, staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks when spending time outside.
The forecast for Friday and Saturday calls for highs in the upper 70's and lower 80's before a heat dome covers Iowa and other Midwestern states.
