(Iowa) -- Millions of birds are expected to migrate through Iowa tonight.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports an estimated 248 million birds, including warblers, sparrows, and hummingbirds, will be migrating.

Officials say whether birds are returning home to Iowa or just passing through, they’re asking residents to turn off unnecessary outdoor lighting tonight to help the birds find their way home.
