(Iowa) -- More than 5,000 17 and 18 year-old Iowans registered to vote this school year.
The Iowa Secretary of State's office says the Carrie Chapman Catt Award program encourages eligible students to register to vote, and 122 schools signed up to host voter registration drive this year. 49 schools registered at least 90 percent of eligible seniors, and a record-setting 75 schools are being recognized through the program.
The Iowa Secretary of State's office says a total of 5,404 eligible students registered to vote during the 2025-2026 school year. More than 20,000 Iowa high school students have registered to vote since the Carrie Chapman Catt Award program began in 2019.
