(Iowa) -- Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is amending her lawsuit against TikTok, alleging the company violated additional provisions of Iowa’s consumer protection laws.

The original lawsuit claims the app uses addictive features to keep children and teens hooked. The amended complaint adds that TikTok misleads users into believing their personal data is protected from access by the Chinese government.

The state is seeking civil penalties and a permanent injunction under the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act.
