(Perry, IA) -- A Perry man has been sentenced to up to 50 years in prison for killing his wife, an act he claimed was meant to “put her out of her misery.”
76-year-old Richard Hoesing admitted to killing his wife, 74-year-old Jean Hoesing, in March of 2025. Court documents say she had been dealing with significant medical issues before her death.
Hoesing’s first-degree murder trial was scheduled to begin today, but he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder instead.
