(Polk City, Iowa) -- High winds may lead to an emergency closure of the mile-long bridge over Saylorville Lake Thursday.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says crews may close the bridge unexpectedly if winds cause dangerous driving conditions. The DOT says drivers should be prepared for the closure and find alternative routes if necessary. Drivers of high-profile vehicles are encouraged to take extra precautions during strong winds.
Closures will be posted on the Iowa 5-1-1 Traveler Information System and on digital message boards on both ends of the bridge.
