(Iowa) -- A bill extending DNA submission requirements for criminal investigations in Iowa passes the Iowa House.

House file 2624 would require Iowans arrested for a felony or aggravated assault to submit a DNA sample for profiling in a criminal investigation unless the suspect's DNA is already on file. A suspect's DNA record would be erased within 30 days if their conviction is reversed and their case dismissed, if the suspect's arrest resulted in an aggravated assault or felony charge resolved through dismissal or acquitted, or if the case against them hasn't been filed within one year.

The full text of House File 2624 is available on the Iowa Legislature's website.
