(Iowa) -- This week marks the first funnel week at the Iowa Legislature.
“Funnel is our self‑imposed deadline. If it doesn’t get through subcommittee and committee by this date, then we are not going to consider it this year. It has to get through one chamber or the other, and that helps us prioritize what we are doing,” said Iowa Senate President Amy Sinclair, a Republican.
Sinclair says lawmakers spent much of last week holding subcommittee meetings to prepare their bills for full committee consideration ahead of the Friday funnel deadline.
The Legislature’s second funnel week of the session begins March 20th.
