(Iowa) -- Iowa is the first state in the nation to receive federal funding through the Iowa Healthy Hometowns Project.

The state has been awarded $209 million from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Governor Kim Reynolds says the investment will help ensure Iowans have access to high‑quality health care and providers across the state.

The funding will be used to purchase medical equipment and help recruit more health care workers.
