(Iowa) -- Home improvement store chain Menards reaches a settlement with multiple states, including Iowa, over its 11% rebate program.
The Iowa Attorney General's Office announced that Menards will pay Iowa $446,832 as part of a settlement claiming the company incorrectly marketed its 11% program. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, as well as the attorneys general of Arizona, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and South Dakota co-led the settlement.
As part of the settlement, the company has agreed to:
- Clarify the limitations of its rebate program
- Disclose all applicable terms and conditions
- Clearly communicate that the company is doing business as Rebate International
- Allow at least one year from the date of purchase to submit a rebate claim.
- Update their online tracker with information regarding rebate claims within 48 hours of the application
- Update their online tracker with additional information about the rebate, including updates about returns affecting the rebate
The settlement resolves claims made in 2020 against Menards' 11% rebate program.
