(Ames, IA) -- Cyclone Welcome Weekend saw a jump in arrests and citations this year.
According to the Ames Police Department, there were 10 charges and 48 citations issued over the weekend, up from 37 total last year.
The increase came during 801 Day, when students traditionally start drinking at 8:01 a.m. the Saturday before classes begin. The weekend also included Iowa State’s football win over Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland.
