(Moline, IL) -- A former John Deere employee is suing the agricultural equipment maker for age discrimination.
Sixty-one year-old Terence Murphy of Geneseo, Illinois says he was fired last summer after 26 years, and his job filled days later by a 33 year-old woman.
In the suit, Murphy says his performance ratings were excellent. He says the new hire had no prior experience in the position, and lacked his credentials.
Murphy's attorneys say statistics show Deere fired employees over age 60 at a rate 7.5% higher than those under age 40.
Deere & Company says it can't comment on pending litigation.
