(Winneshiek County, IA) -- A Georgia man has been charged in a teen girl's death in Iowa. The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 65-year-old James Bachmurski is accused of killing 15-year-old Jade Colvin. Investigators say in the spring of 2017, the teen was brought from Arizona to Iowa by her mother to live at Bachmurski's farm, in rural southern Winneshiek County.

In May of 2022, the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the US Marshal Service, working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and told Colvin had not been seen or heard from since two days after her arrival at the Bachmurski farm in 2017.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office launched a full-scale investigation involving multiple agencies and spanning several states.

Bachmurski has been charged with Second Degree Murder and is being held without bond in the Winneshiek County Jail, after being extradited from a jail in Emanuel County Georgia.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Polk County Cyber Audit and JFACT and Winneshiek County Attorney’s Office.

This case remains an open and active investigation with the possibility of additional charges and arrests. No other details of this case will be released at this time.
