Hundreds Of Iowans Seeking Help From FEMA After Storms

(Polk County, IA) -- Hundreds of Iowans with storm damage from April and May have been contacting the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Paul Corah with FEMA says so far they've seen 300 residents of Greenfield, 200 from Mount Ayr, and another 200 from Polk County. He says the Polk County office was to close last week, but due to demand, will remain open until this Wednesday, June 13th at 7 p.m. The Polk County FEMA office is at Riley Resource Group on University Avenue in Pleasant Hill. (Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Corah says while the initial shock has worn off for people with storm damage, they are starting to get frustrated at the length of time to recover. He says he tells people it's a marathon, and it's going to take a while before everything will be resolved. Corah says most have questions about property insurance gaps and whether FEMA can help fill those gaps.
