(Jasper County, IA) -- The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is identifying a man who died after falling off the west side boat ramp at Rock Creek State Park. The Sheriff's Office says 76-year-old Larry Conner had been fishing with another person early Sunday morning (12:06 a.m.) when he fell into the water. The other person called for help and was able to get Conner out of the water.
An Iowa DNR officer arrived on scene and found an unresponsive male patient. The officer requested medical assistance. Kellogg Fire/EMS, Newton Fire/EMS, Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. Mercy One Helicopter also landed at the scene.
First responders were unable to revive Conner. Autopsy results are pending.
The Jasper County Medical Examiner and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner are assisting in the investigation.
