(Union County, SD) - A fish caught by a northwest Iowa man has set a state record for flathead catfish in South Dakota. Ethan Evink of Hospers caught a fish that weighed 67 pounds and 8 ounces according to the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks.

The fish was 51.5 inches long with a girth of 32.5 inches, was pulled from the Missouri River in Union County South Dakota.

Ethan caught the flathead catfish at 5 a.m. using cutbait.

While it's certainly big, it's far from Iowa's record 81-pound flathead catfish, caught in Lake Ellis near Chariton, Iowa in 1958.
