Santa Claus is Watching!

Growing up in the 50's and 60's was a bit frightening around the Holiday season and sometimes beyond. Santa was not just a jolly old soul but a turncoat and a squealer. He worked clandestinely for my parents tattling on everything we did all year long, creeping and peeking through the windows to see if we were naughty or nice. One day in early July my 4 year old younger brother was being difficult and my Dad was desperate to remedy the situation before a spanking was administered. My uncle, who lived down the block, was a professional Santa during the holiday season. My dad made a quick phone call, then sat my little brother down and explained Santa is always watching, my brother wasn't biting on it. All of a sudden there was movement outside the window and what should appear but Santas face for a quick moment and he was gone. I thought they were going to have to change my brothers pants he was so shocked, he said nothing and my dad with a finger aside of his nose walked out of the room and way out of sight. As I was left calming my young sibling down, I heard my Dad shouting "and to all a good night!
