ET TU COLUMBUS?

It seems the tearing down of racist statues is now reaching a peak but many seem to be most upset with the recent move to eradicate the memory of the discoverer of America, Christopher Columbus. Columbus may have been a brave and bold explorer but was never the discoverer of America, more likely discovering the Islands east of the continent. What he was, was a fortune hunter and enslaver of the native populations decimating many of the local tribes in search of gold and other valuable commodities. His statues should never have been erected nor our minds poisoned with praise for his accomplishments. My mind now wonders about tributes to Leif Eriksen and Amerigo Vespucci and the dangers that lie within.
