Ames Schools Grab-And-Go Meals Near 19,000

The Ames school district has handed out nearly 19,000 grab-and-go meals in the program's first three weeks. The district reports distributing more than 7,800 meals last week through its summer food program, up from more than 6,200 the week before and 4,600 in the first week. In addition, the district is adjusting the times of distribution to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. They'll also start handing out hot meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Ames district also reports handing out about 1,200 Chromebooks to families of elementary students last week.
