The principal of Ames High School is now overseeing the middle school. Superintendent Jenny Risner says in an email to parents concerns for student and staff safety at Ames Middle School have come to the district's attention, prompting her to ask Ames High principal Spence Evans to take on responsibilities at the middle school. District staff won't comment on the specifics of those safety concerns nor whether Middle School Principal Dan Fox will remain with the district. Risner says the district is committed to conducting an in-depth review of those concerns, adding Associate High School Principal Brian Carico is taking a larger leadership role at the high school.
