Football Saturdays are normally times of joy and jubilation at Iowa State but this week it will be mixed with an uncanny silence and sadness over the tragic murder of one of our finest athletes. On the very day she was to be recognized for her many achievements and honors she brought to our beloved institution and named the 2018 Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year we will commemorate her passing with a moment of silence. Sometimes the books of life don't seem to balance, a bright future snuffed out before it could shine. Rest in Peace Celia Barquin Arozamena and know that our arms are wrapped around your loved ones in prayer, today we will cheer with tears in our eyes with thoughts of you and those that surrounded your life.
