Riding the Storm Out

It is truly beyond my comprehension why some folks are enamored with staying in their homes even though they know they are in certain danger. I refer to, of course, the current hurricane Florence and the 40% of people who have opted ride it out often time with the whole family. I watched in horror as a woman stood with her 3 children whose ages ranged from 4 to 9 years of age and in the background he aged mother declaring "We're going to ride this one out, we'll depend on each other for strength." I'm not sure whether any one else got a vote in that decision. You can't go to the store and buy a life, you get one and it's up to you to take care of it. Heaven forbid in 30 years she's sitting with friends talking about the Hurricane of 2018 "Yep we rode Ole Florence out, lost 2 of the kids and Granny wasn't as good a swimmer as I thought but me and little Megan made it through." We here in Iowa are far from guilt free of stupidity as instead of running for shelter we run for our cameras or phones to show the destructiveness of tornadoes and how our life ended shouting "You kids and your mom get down in the damn basement, I'm off to the Land of Oz!" Your Tombstone reads "Rest In Pieces Stupid".

The Little Cyclones and the Bobcats take to the Gridiron tonight as Ames take on Marshalltown in the battle of Highway 30. Our Pre game coverage begins at 6:45 with kickoff set for 7pm, Sports Director Dave Sprau and Tron Smith will cover all the action on 1430 KASI, 1430kasi.com and of course on your iHeart App.
