Iowa State University's enrollment is down for a second year in a row, and is below 35,000 for the first time in three years. In a news release, the university says the 34,992 students enrolled this fall is down 2.8 percent from last year's 35,993. Officials say the decline reflects national enrollment trends, a decline in international enrollment, and smaller high school graduating classes around the country. The unviersity says there are 29,621 undergraduates on campus--the largest number enrolled at any Iowa college or university. Of those undergrads, 6,047 are freshmen--103 more than last fall.
