The Ames City Council will revisit an ordinance carving out exemptions to a rental occupancy cap in neighborhoods near the Iowa State campus. Mayor John Haila says the revisions would limit rental permits to owners of one- and two-bedroom properties who live in their homes and have renters. Haila, who vetoed the original version, says he can live with the council's proposed compromises. He says the revision would go into effect 30 days after the ordinance is published.
