A City of Ames public works staffer says next year will be big for street construction. Civil Engineeer Mark Gansen says work will begin on the long-discussed extension of Grand Ave. He says they'll first extend S. 5th St. to Grand, then extend Grand to S. 16th St. He says work will also be done to improve a rapidly-deteriorating S. 16th. Gansen says money to pay for the Grand Ave. extension comes from the federal government, with a local match. He says other street projects are being pushed back in the construction schedule to accomodate the work on Grand.
