Iowa state university's residence director says they'll house 11,500 students as the semester gets underway. Pete Englin says it's a more managable number than the capacity enrollment that saw the university rent more than 1,400 privately-owned apartments in west Ames as recently as two years ago. He says a stabilized enrollment combined with the addition of new beds in the residence system means those who want to can live on campus. Iowa State's fall semester started Monday.
