Iowa hit by EF-2, -3 tornadoes last week

The National Weather Service says tornadoes that hit Marshalltown and Pella on Thursday were rated as EF-3 storms with wind speeds of up to 144 miles-per-hour.  The weather service says an EF-2 tornado hit Bondurant Thursday packing winds of up to 115 miles-per-hour.  Marshall, Lee, Polk, and Van Buren counties are covered under a state disaster declaration issued by Gov. Reynolds on Friday. The declaration clears the way for grants that can be given to people to aid in recovery.
