The Ames Police Department wants drivers to be familiar with the route more than 20,000 cyclists and supporters will take through the city during the July 24th overnight RAGBRAI stop. Cmdr. Jason Ttuttle says cyclists will enter Ames from County Road R-38 heading north on South Dakota Ave. From Dakota, they'll head east on Mortensen Rd. to Beach Ave., where they'll turn south on 4th street to Jack Trice Stadium. He says there will be treet clousres and lane restrictions will cyclist come into Ames. Tuttle says riders will start arriving in Ames around 10:00 a.m. on the 24th, with the bulk coming between noon and 4:00 p.m. Tuttle says many riders will leave the next morning between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m.
