A rural Waverly teenager died after a weekend fireworks accident. The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded the incident Saturday night where they found Coltin Carolus, 18, with life-threatening injuries after using fireworks with friends. He was taken to the Waverly hospital and later transported to Covenant Hospital in Waterloo. He was removed from life support Sunday, and his organs were donated. Sheriff Dan Pickett says it appears Carolus was struck by a firework that was used improperly and went out of control.
