"Rummage Rampage" to take exotic pets

Exotic animals are being welcomed at this year's Rummage Rampage in Ames. The community-wide rummage sale is accepting fish, reptiles, amphibians, and other species so they don't get released into non-native habitats. Story County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Erica Place says dumping such animals can cause serious environmental issues. Iowa State and City of Ames Sustainability Coordinator Merry Rankin says they'll work with local animal welfare groups and shelters to find new homes for the exotic pets. They can be dropped off at Rummage Rampage, no questions asked, July 28th through August 2nd.
