Former Iowa governor Ray dead at 89

Former Iowa governor Robert Ray is dead.  A statement from his family says Ray died Sunday in Des Moines of natural causes.  Ray was elected to a two-year term 1968, then again in 1970 and 1972.  During that time, the state constitution was changed to give the governor a four-year term.  He was then elected in 1974 and 1978. Ray left office in 1983. He's perhaps best known for having Iowa accept more than a million refugees from southeast Asia in the 1970's.  Ray was 89
