City Council talks rental cap, downtown corridor rezone

The Ames City Council is set to hear from property owners in the Westside neighborhood who don't want be included in a proposed rental housing cap for areas near the Iowa State campus. Mayor John Haila says the council will consider first passage of an ordinance giving relief to property owners adversely affected by the cap. The council will also consider third passage of an ordinance rezoning land on Lincoln Way establishing a Downtown Gateway Corridor. Haila says the council could seek direction from City Attorney Mark Lambert about the feasibility of making the area smaller.  Tuesday night's city council meeting in city hall starts at 6:00.
