It's a western Iowa showdown in the 4th Congressional District, where Sioux City Democrat J.D. Scholten will face seven-term incumbent Republican Steve King.  Scholten got 51 percent of the vote.  Spencer City Council member Leann Jacobsen got 32 percent, while Ames pediatrician John Paschen got 17 percent.  King easily dispatched Cyndi Hanson to win the GOP nomination.

Third District Republican congressman David Young will face Democrat Cindy Axne in November. Axne got almost 58 percent of the primary vote defeating two other Democrats. She would've won every county in the district had it not been for a tie with Eddie Mauro in Ringgold County.

Democrat state representative Abby Finkenauer easily defeated three other challengers to win the her primary in Iowa's 1st Congressional District. She got almost 67 percent of the vote while losing just one county in the district. Finkenauer faces Republican incumbent Rod Blum in November.
