There are positives and negatives in an Iowa State University campus climate survey of more than 7,300 students, faculty, and staff. Among the positives in the report are the value of research by faculty, and faculty being role models for students. Reports of hostility based on things like gender and race, the percentage of faculty looking at leaving ISU for another job, and work-life issues were concerns listed in the survey. Inappropriate sexual conduct was also cited in the report as 11 percent of those surveyed listed that as a problem they've encountered.
