Strong storms bring rain, wind, hail to Iowa

Just over three inches of rain fell in Ames Tuesday as strong storms blew across Iowa from the west and southwest. The storms also brought hail and strong winds to much of the western part of the state.  Hailstones from pea- to golf ball-size were reported during the evening hours.  The only reported damage appeared to be in the Pocahontas County town of Laurens, where wind and hail broke some residential windows.  The National Weather Service says there could be a repeat in the area for Wednesday afternoon and evening, and again Thursday afternoon and evening.
