The public has four opportunities this month to offer input and ask questions about a proposed Healthy Life Center in Ames. Heartland Senior Services executive director Nancy Carroll hopes to explain that the center isn't designed to compete with privately-owned fitness clubs. Heartland, the City of Ames, Iowa State, Mary Greeley Medical Center, Des Moines Area Community College, and Story County could partner financially on the proposed $48 million facility. The first meeting is Thursday night at the library. Meetings will also be held next Monday at Mitchell Elementary, next Wednesday at Ames High School, and two weeks from today (tue) at ames middle school. each meeting starts at 7:00.
