Iowa is in the middle of the pack in terms of average teacher salary. A National Education Association report this week said teacher salaries in Iowa went up by almost $1,300 from 2015-16 to 2016-17. That represented a 2.3 percent increase, which was good for 17th in the nation. Iowa is 22nd in the country overall for the average teacher salary.
