Iowa is too wet and too dry

Northern Iowa's too wet, and most of southern Iowa's too dry. The latest US Drought Monitor shows about 20 counties in south central and southeast Iowa either abnormally dry or in moderate drought.  Madison, Warren, and Marion counties, are included in the dry area. Far southeast Polk County is also abnormally dry.   In northern Iowa, rapidly melting snow is raising the flood risk in the Des Moines and Cedar River basins.
