Younkers is closing eight stores across Iowa. Earlier this year Bon Ton, Younkers' parent company, announced it was closing the Westdale Mall store in Cedar Rapids. Store officials Tuesday announced seven additional locations will shut their doors. About 700 jobs will be affected by the closures in Coralville, Des Moines, Dubuque, Mason City, Sioux City, West Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. The stores are expected to close the beginning of June. The Younkers store at North Grand Mall in Ames is expected to stay open.
