Storm damage near Story City not from tornado

Story County's Emergency Management Coordinator says the storm that caused damage in the Story City area Friday night was not a tornado. Keith Morgan says his office worked with the National Weather Service to determine the nature of the storm. He says radar images from the area combined with the east-west area of debris tells them straight-line winds caused the damage. Morgan says Friday's thunderstorms gave way to a reminder we're not done with winter yet, as three inches of snow fell in the Ames area late Saturdand and into Sunday. Morgan says they're keeping an eye on potental flooding from melting snow in northern Iowa.
