Police say robbers used Snapchat to target crimes

The Ames Police Department is investigating a pair of recent robberies with a social media connection. Cmdr. Geoff Huff says the suspects seem to have used Snapchat looking for large parties. He says they went, uninvited, to those parties where they caused a fight to break out and stole cell phones and cash during the chaos. Huff says it's important to use social media with caution--and lock down privacy settings to only show posts to on-line friends and not the whole network.  He says it's also a good idea not to post pictures of vacations or other occasions when your house might be empty until after you've returned.
