One person was injured Thursday when an ultralight aircraft plane crashed south of Maxwell across the Story-Polk county line. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the plane took off from a home around NE 150th Ave. and NE 104th St. in northern Polk County. It crashed about 150 yards away in a cornfield. The pilot, Jason Beckman, 43 of Lake View suffered leg injuries and cuts on his arm. He was taken to a Des Moines hospital. No one else was injured. The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the cause of the crash.
