Authorities have identified those involved in Tuesday's fatal crash in northern Story County. The Iowa State Patrol says Zechariah Conrad, 25, of Gilbert was killed and Richard Tjernagel, 65, of Story City was injured in the crash around 6:15 a.m. The patrol says conrad crossed the center line of Hwy. 69 near 150th St., two miles north of Gilbert, hitting Tjernagel's vehicle head-on. They say Conrad wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled. Conrad was pronounced dead at the scene. Tjernagel, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
