Spring Break is a big week for street work in Ames. Traffic signal replacements start Monday at the intersections of west Lincoln Way and Franklin Ave. and east 13th St. at the I-35 off-ramp. Permanent poles and equipment will be installed at Lincoln Way and Franklin, with intermittent lane closures. the 13th St. work won't close traffic lanes, but crews will work in the right-of-way. Both signals are expected to be operational Thursday. Sanitary sewer work is scheduled for Lincoln Way and Beach Ave. starting Wednesday night with considerable overnight lane closures and restrictions in the area. That work expected to be done overnight. The outside northbound lane of S. Duff Ave. from S. 16th St. to Chestnut will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday to replace a damaged fire hydrant.
