Senate approves school aid bill

A one-percent funding increase for Iowa schools is close to becoming law.  The Senate voted to pass the increase Monday while also agreeing to provide $14 million for issues including school transportation.  Passage means $32 million of new state money will be provided to schools.  The Senate's action ends the stalemate with the House that lingered for most of the month.
