Senate advances school bus bill

Iowa students could spend more of their time during the year on a school bus. The Senate voted Tuesday to let districts decide whether students are on a bus for an extended period of time going to and from school.  Public hearings would have to be held and notices sent out if a district decides to have students of any age spend more than 75 minutes on a bus each way.  The bill passed with some bipartisan support. The House will now consider it.
