The Ames City Council will revisit its rental housing code during a city workshop Tuesday. Mayor John Haila says the council will hear from staff and the public in front of what he expects to be a diverse audience of property owners, renters, and groups concerned at the effect rentals have in their neighborhoods. Haila says he thinks the council is open to making changes to the code--within limits. He says they're not interested in completely rewriting it. The rental housing code was passed in response to a change in state law negating the use of family status to set occupancy limits in single-family rentals. Tuesday night's meeting in City Hall starts at 6:00.
