Man hospitalized after being hit by train in Ames

A man hit by a train in Ames Saturday night is still in the hospital. Police say they were called to the Duff Ave. crossing at about 8:00 p.m. Saturday where they found the man on the south side of the tracks conscious but unresponsive. Police say the victim was taken by paramedics to the Ames airport, where he was flown to a Des Moines hospital.  Police are treating the indident as an accident.  The man's condition and identity is not known.  The crossing was closed for several hours.
