The City of Ames budget process continues Tuesday. During a Conference Board meeting, Mayor John Haila says the City Council will get a report from Assessor Greg Lynch that spells out a nearly 8.5 percent increase in property valuation from last year. The city credits new single- and mutli-family construction as well as annexation of the East Industrial Park for the growth. Haila says the council will also go back to the drawing board on an affordable housing development on city-owned land at 321 State Ave. He says the council needs to consider it's options after it failed to reach an agreement this month with a builder that was going to do the development.
