Ames Police sponsors opioid town hall meeting

The Ames Police Department is sponsoring a town hall meeting next week that's as timely as today's headlines. Cmdr. Geoff Huff says law enforcement, policy, and public health officials will talk about the growing opioid epidemic. He says, nationwide, the epidemic killed 64,000 people in 2017--more than were killed in car crashes in 1972, the nation's deadliest year for highway fatalities. The opioid town hall is Wednesday night, 7:00, in the council chambers of Ames City Hall.
